Exciting new things at GFFD

If you’ve been at GFFD lately, chances are you’ve seen (or heard 🙉) our latest construction project underway. That’s right- it’s finally happening...Grants Ferry Family Dentistry and Green Wellness Spa are expanding!

How we got here:

If you had asked me 2 years ago what the future of GFFD looked like, I likely would have had a completely different narrative than I do today. Just ask my closest friends, family, and colleagues; I’ve explored almost every option that would accommodate growth and meet the goals and expectations I had set for the practice. Unfortunately, most of those options led to frustration, hours of “wasted” work (sorry Dad), and ultimately, a sense of unease.

There are so many things about my little practice on Lake Village Circle that I absolutely adore! I knew that too much change could potentially ruin so much of what I loved about GFFD and worked so hard to cultivate. So I decided that these were the most important things to me, in no particular order:

  1. Keeping the general “feel” and culture of the practice. I mean... it’s soooo cute, and I like to think it is warm and inviting for our patients.

  2. The location. Though I did not originally choose the location, it never ceases to amaze me how close the majority of our patients live to the practice. Why change something that works?!

  3. The name. Is it a mouthful? Yes. Do I have the longest domain name on the planet? Possibly. Would it be a huge PITA to have to change it? Absolutely!

The decision

[fast forward multiple painstaking years of agonizing over what is the best plan of action]

I lucked out in life and happen to possess half of the DNA of an architect/engineer and the other half of an interior designer. So after some time (and many Pinterest boards), my dad and mom were able to help me create a tangible plan to renovate and expand my current building to both meet our growth needs and create the look and feel that I’ve always wanted for the practice.

Once the plan was on paper, I was sold. It was time to assemble my team and get moving!

Go time

It has been stressed to me for years how important it is to work with a contractor who understands the ins and outs of a dental office; that’s why I partnered with Ti Garner of The Garner Company (https://www.garnercompany.com/) to lead this project. Ti has multiple years of experience in dental office construction and has understood my vision from the start.

Can I just say how mind-blown I am by the amount of progress that has taken place in such a short amount of time? It’s so exciting to see my dreams become a reality, and I will be so thrilled to show it off, especially to those who remember the carpet flooring days!

What to expect

Almost every square inch of GFFD is getting a facelift! The addition will include 2 news offices, 3 new operatories, an employee lounge, and a lab. The existing building will be getting a revamped waiting room, cabinetry, flooring, and an additional spa room. If we can survive the construction phase while still working through it, I think we’ll love it! 😂

To our sweet, patient, kind, patient, loving (did I mention patient) patients, hang in there. While we will still guarantee our finest dentistry, you may be the victim of auditory assault. Bring headphones!! Or ask for ours- we got you! The noise and mess are all part of it and just means we’re making progress. Everyone has been so understanding thus far, and it means so much to us. We’re hoping to be finished and ready for an open house PARTY in August! (Did you hear that, Ti?)

Finally, take a look through some of our progress photos. And be sure to follow us on social media (Facebook, Instagram, and now TikTok) to watch one of my biggest dreams come to fruition!
